A rich, indulgent dessert made with yellow cake mix, instant pudding, and a creamy peanut butter filling that soaks into the warm cake, topped with a chocolate ganache and chopped Reese’s cups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz / 432g) yellow cake mix
  • 1 box (3.4 oz / 96g) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 can (14 oz / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120g) creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 bag (11 oz / 311g) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over the surface about 1 inch apart using a wooden spoon or chopsticks.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter, and melted butter until smooth.
  6. Slowly pour the peanut butter mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. Let the cake cool completely to room temperature.
  7. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  8. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
  9. Sprinkle chopped Reese’s cups generously over the top.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

For best results, poke holes while the cake is warm but let it cool for 15-20 minutes before pouring the filling to avoid sogginess. Use standard creamy peanut butter rather than natural peanut butter for the correct texture. The cake improves in flavor if chilled overnight.
